🏆 Double Award for CASS Researcher Michelle Fritzler!
From Sugar Transport to Food Security – Research with Real-World Impact! 🌱
We are delighted to share that Michelle Fritzler, PhD researcher at RPTU Kaiserslautern-Landau and member of the CASS project, received not one, but two awards at the Young Researchers Symposium 2026 in Kaiserslautern!
🥇 1st Place – Best Talk Award
🏆 Transfer Award – supported by IHK Pfalz
In her award-winning presentation, “From Sugar Transport to Food Security: Engineering Climate-Resilient Cassava,” Michelle highlighted her research on the role of sugar transport in cassava and its response to drought stress.
Her work explores how understanding and improving sugar transport processes could contribute to developing more drought-resilient cassava plants – an important step towards improving crop resilience and supporting food security.
The Transfer Award particularly recognizes research with strong potential for future economic applications and societal impact.
For the CASS project, this recognition highlights the importance of connecting fundamental plant science with practical solutions for agriculture and the challenges posed by climate change.
👏 Congratulations, Michelle, on this outstanding achievement! We are proud to have you as part of the CASS team!
